The Navy’s 1st Fleet Command (hereinafter referred to as 1st Fleet) announced on the 29th that it is putting its full efforts into maritime vigilance operations to actively support the safe and successful hosting of the 2024 Gangneung Winter Youth Olympic Games militarily. The 1st Fleet will conduct maritime vigilance missions in the waters east of Gangneung City, Gangwon Province, where the ice skating competition will be held, by enhancing the operation of ships, aircraft and other forces to maintain a 24-hour all-round surveillance system.
Members of the 1st Fleet’s counterterrorism task force are also maintaining a 24-hour mobilization posture by enhancing their counterterrorism operations capabilities in preparation for possible terrorist situations on land and at sea, including attacks on passenger ships traveling to and from Gangneung Port during the Olympics.
In particular, 1st Fleet Sailors inspected key venues for safety vulnerabilities prior to the event and actively supported the safe conduct of the games by conducting explosives screenings at the venues. Through Feb. 1, when the Winter Youth Olympic Games conclude, 1st Fleet will continue to enhance the readiness of its maritime vigilance operations and SOF personnel and maintain close coordination by sharing information with relevant agencies and 스포츠토토존 units for rapid response in the event of a situation.
