Professional soccer’s K League 1 Incheon United won a dramatic goal by Oh Ban-seok in stoppage time.
Incheon United defeated Suwon FC (11th place) 2-1 in the 28th round of the 2023 K League 1 on Friday afternoon at Suwon Sports Complex. Incheon moved up two spots from sixth to fourth place with 40 points. Third-place Jeonbuk Hyundai (41 points) followed closely behind.
Incheon is unbeaten in its last four matches. It previously drew 1-1 in rounds 26 and 27 and won 3-1 in the 2023-24 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL) Playoffs (PO) against Vietnam’s Hai Phong FC on April 22 after 120 minutes of extra-time.
Incheon started the match without its main players, who were still feeling the physical strain of the 120-minute extra-time match three days earlier.
Incheon took the lead in first-half stoppage time, but Suwon FC equalized on a 바카라 header from Lee Seung-woo just 48 seconds into the second half.
Incheon brought on Mugosawa and Hernandez in the ninth minute of the second half to try to turn things around, but it was not to be.
In the 42nd minute, Suwon FC’s Lopez punched Kim Jun-yup in the face and was immediately sent off. They took advantage of the opportunity and scored the game-winning goal with a dramatic header by Oh Ban-seok from a corner kick just before the end of the game.
Meanwhile, a sinkhole appeared on the field around the 27th minute of the first half and the match was suspended for about 10 minutes.
The match between Jeonbuk and Daejeon Hana Citizen (7th) at Jeonju World Cup Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw. Leading scorer Thiago scored his 13th goal of the season in the 33rd minute to extend his lead over second place to two goals.
