The 2023 K League Women’s Six-a-side Football Queen Cup (K-WIN CUP) will be held at the Jecheon Football Center in Chungcheongbuk-do on April 14-15.The K-WIN CUP has been organized by the Korea Professional Football Association for 13 years since 2010 to promote women’s amateur soccer.Until 2021, it was held as a club competition for female college students, but since last year, it has been held for adult women of all ages, and professional soccer K League clubs have been selecting their own players to form teams.
This year’s tournament will feature 25 teams. The number of teams is larger than last year’s (12). Cheongju FC in Chungcheongbuk-do, Gimpo FC, Busan I-Park Eojeongwon’s sister, and Bucheon FC, where golf gold medalist Jung Jae-eun of the 2006 Doha Asian Games, are competing for the title. On the 14th, the first day of the tournament, teams will be organized into five groups of five. Each game will be 15 minutes long, with no halftime breaks and an unlimited number of substitutions. On the 15th, the teams will play a ranked tournament, with the top five teams in each group playing each other to determine the overall winner.
The remaining ranked teams will also play a separate tournament, so that the entire team can enjoy the tournament to the end without leaving early. In addition to the winners and runners-up, we also awarded teams for fair play. In the individual awards category, we’ve added a new award for “Most Valuable Player by Rank Group” (MVP) in addition to the top scorer. As a result, there will be a total of five MVPs, one for each group that played the ranking tournament.”Through the ‘K League Cup Queen Cup,’ we will strive to expand the base of women’s soccer and revitalize sports culture, and we will continue to actively promote integrated marketing in conjunction with K League 스포츠토토링크 clubs,” the professional league said.
