Park Byung-ho hits 400th career home run for Korea, Samsung’s fourth straight victory
Samsung’s Byung-ho Park, now a blue-blooded man, 카지노사이트킴 hit the 400th home run of his career in the Korean Baseball Organization.
Park, who started at first base in the No. 4 spot in the lineup against LG in the 2024 KBO League at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu, South Korea, hit a solo home run off opposing starter Casey Kelly in the top of the second inning with the score tied at 0-0.
It was his eighth home run of the season and the 388th of his KBO career. Add to that the 12 home runs he hit with Minnesota in the Major Leagues, and Byung-ho Park has now hit his 400th home run.
Park made his debut with LG in 2005, but was unable to fulfill his potential for a long time and was eventually traded to Nexen (now Kiwoom) in 2011.
After changing uniforms, Park blossomed immediately and became one of the top hitters of the 2010s, winning the home run title five times, including a 31-homer season in 2012.
His best years came in 2014 and 2015. After reaching the 50-homer plateau for two consecutive seasons, Park was able to capitalize on his success to reach the major leagues.
This season, he lost his place in the KT Wiz organization and requested a trade, and since moving to Samsung, he has once again exploded with power and is burning the final flame.
Park is considered to be the third player in the KBO to reach 400 career home runs, which is only held by Choi Jung (476) and Lee Seung-yeop (467). He only needs 12 more home runs to do so.
With Park Byung-ho joining Kang Min-ho in the home run column, Samsung swept a three-game midweek series against LG to extend its winning streak to four games.
Meanwhile, LG, desperate to snap a three-game losing streak, suffered its first complete-game loss of the season as starter Kelly gave up six runs in eight innings of work.
The four teams in the race for the top spot remain within one game of each other as third- and fourth-place Samsung and Doosan each won, while first-place KIA and second-place LG lost back-to-back.
Meanwhile, eighth-ranked Lotte trailed 4-9 going into the top of the seventh inning at home against Kiwoom, but exploded for seven runs in the sixth and seventh innings to pull off a thrilling 18-10 comeback win. SSG, looking to bounce back from a mid-table finish, also took the series with a 7-1 win over KIA, with Japanese pitcher Shirikawa pitching five innings of one-run ball to earn his second win in Korea.
