The United States is pushing the Korean Peninsula to the brink of nuclear war and force is the only way to stop it, North Korea has claimed.
North Korean Defense Minister Kang Soon Nam made the claim in a speech read by the defense attaché at the North Korean Embassy in Moscow at the 11th Moscow International Security Conference on Friday local time, Tass news agency reported.
“The United States, which has been blatantly violating the DPRK’s independent development and security interests under its policy of hostility toward the DPRK, is pushing the situation in Northeast Asia to the brink of nuclear war,” he said.
“Since the beginning of this year, the U.S. has deployed large-scale strategic nuclear weapons, including nuclear-powered submarines, strategic bombers, and nuclear aircraft carrier battle groups, to South Korea, and conducted the largest joint military exercises imaginable in an all-out war with us,” he said, adding, “These were unprecedented in scale, intensity, and duration.”
“The question now is not whether a nuclear war will break out on the Korean Peninsula, but when, by whom and how,” he said.
“Until the U.S. acknowledges the complete failure of its anti-Republic of Korea hostility policy and completely removes its military confrontation line with us, no issue can be resolved by dialogue or negotiation, and physical force is the only means to safeguard peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula,” Kang said, stressing that “this is our unchanging position.”
Kang also reaffirmed the willingness of North Korea and Russia to cooperate militarily.
“During several meetings with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Chairman Kim Jong Un conveyed his assessment and principles on the military and political situation on the Korean Peninsula and the rapidly changing international security environment. 먹튀검증 He also emphasized his willingness to further develop bilateral cooperation and tactical and strategic exchanges in the field of national defense and security.”
