A Manchester United (Manchester United) legend has called for Zinedine Zidane (52) to be the club’s new manager instead of Houbeng Amorim (39).
The club announced on its website and other official channels that Eric ten Haag (53) will be relieved of his duties as head coach, with assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy (48) taking over the vacant position on an interim basis.
Several names have been floated as possible candidates for United’s next manager. Former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez, Brentford manager Thomas Frank, former England manager Gareth Southgate, former Chelsea manager Graham Potter, and former Dortmund manager Edin Dzerzhik have all been mentioned.
Former Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel was the favorite to take over at United. However, Tuchel recently took over the England national team.
At this point, Sporting CP (Portugal) coach Amorim is the top priority. United officials have reportedly met with the Portuguese coach in person and offered him a specific contract length and salary range.
Amorim, one of Europe’s rising young coaches, has been at the helm of Sporting since 2020. Under his leadership, Sporting have won 170 of their 237 matches.
In addition,
Amorim has led Sporting to two Portuguese league titles and two cup competitions. This season, he has led Sporting to the top of the league and is unbeaten in the UEFA Champions League (2 wins, 1 draw).
However, Paul Scholes, 50, told the Premier League’s official site: 파워볼사이트 “Amorim is an interesting man. But he could also be a risky choice,” Paul Scholes, 50, told the Premier League’s official website.
“Everyone knows his style of play. He plays really good football. It speaks volumes about his quality that we’re talking about him as a candidate to manage United,” he said.
“Most of these managers have worked at clubs where expectations are not very high. You can see that with Thomas Frank. I think he could be a very good manager at United, but the expectations at Brentford are different than at United.”
“I was a huge fan of Tuchel, but that’s in the past,” he added, ”He’s been in charge of top clubs and won important trophies with big clubs. In my opinion, Ten Haag’s successor needs to have experience at a top club.”
Scholes added: “United is one of the biggest clubs in the world. “Zidane has won tons of trophies at big clubs. I’m not sure how good his English is and if he really wants to come to England. He hasn’t shown that willingness.”
