Tottenham are reportedly considering a big-money bid for the Barcelona winger as they look to replace Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool, who rejected an offer worth 150 million pounds ($250.2 million) for Salah last summer, are looking for a replacement this summer, according to British outlet Team Talk.
Liverpool have been rocked by Jürgen Klopp’s bombshell announcement that he will step down after this season. Klopp’s sudden announcement has sparked speculation about a possible exodus of Liverpool players.
Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and other Liverpool mainstays are out of contract in the summer of 2025. Salah is once again being pursued by Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal. Van Dijk has already rejected a contract extension.
Eventually, Liverpool will likely sell Salah. The Reds could use the money to buy Leroy Sane (Bayern Munich) or Takefusa Kubo (Real Sociedad).
Brazil international Hafinha (Barcelona) has also been linked with a move to Liverpool, according to Spain’s Sport. Hapinha has been playing for Leeds United for two years, starting in 2020, so he wouldn’t have to adjust to the Premier League.
However, according to the report, Tottenham have an advantage over Liverpool in their pursuit of the player. Tottenham have already offered €70 million for the player. One step ahead of the Reds. What’s more, €70 million is a club record for Tottenham, beating the €62 million they paid for Thangui Ndombele.
Hapinha earned the trust of Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez last season with 10 goals and 12 assists in 50 games. This season, he has four goals and seven assists in 20 스포츠토토 games, including three goals and five assists in 15 league games. Despite his solid performances, Hapinha is not guaranteed a starting spot behind 2007-born Ramin Yamal.
Barcelona, who are not in a good financial position, are willing to sell him. The money from the sale could be used to buy João Cancelo or João Felix outright.
If he does end up in a Tottenham shirt, he’ll be a good fit on the right wing. The addition of Hapinha would allow him to compete with Dejan Kuluczewski for a more competitive squad under Ange Postecocle.
Spurs also have winger options in Brennan Johnson, Manor Solomon, and Timo Werner. However, with the addition of Hapinha, they could upgrade in all areas.
In that case, Tottenham’s offensive line could form a triangle with Son, Heung-min, and Hapinha forming the base. This could brighten the outlook for next season. As Spurs continue to do well in the transfer market, we’ll see if they can keep the momentum going this summer.
