Kim Woo-min (22-Gangwon Provincial Office) has withdrawn from the men’s 800 and 1,500 meters freestyle events.
He will focus on the 400-meter freestyle, where he has a good chance of winning a medal, and the 800-meter freestyle relay, where he will play a key role.
Kim has qualified for Paris 2024 in the men’s 200, 400, 800 and 1,500 meters freestyle and open water swimming.
He withdrew from open water swimming early on and will not compete in the 800m and 1,500m freestyle.
Kim’s name was also not on the list of entries for the men’s 800m and 1,500m freestyle events released by the Paris Organizing Committee on Saturday.
Kim will compete in the men’s 400-meter freestyle heats and final on Sunday.
In this event, Kim is a world-recognized medalist.
According to Swimswam, Kim is expected to finish third in the men’s 400-meter freestyle in Paris, behind Samuel Short (AUS) and Lukas Martens (GER).
Many experts are predicting a four-way battle for the men’s 400-meter freestyle in Paris.
In fact, the first through fourth fastest men’s 400 meters times this year are Martens (3:40.33), Elijah Winnington (3:41.41-AUS), Short (3:41.64), and Kim Woo-min (3:42.42).
Kim emerged as a ‘favorite’ for the Paris Games after winning the Doha 2024 World Championships in February this year in a then-personal best of 3:42.71.
Kim will also be aiming for a ‘medal collaboration’ in the men’s 800m freestyle relay, where he will team up with Hwang Sun-woo (Gangwon-do) and Lee Ho-joon (Jeju-si).
The men’s 800-meter freestyle relay will have preliminaries in the morning and the final in the afternoon.
The men’s 800-meter freestyle will be preliminaries on the morning of the 29th and the final on the afternoon of the 30th, but Kim Woo-min will not compete in this event to save his energy for the relay.
He will also not compete in the men’s 1,500-meter freestyle on Aug. 3, after he has already exhausted himself.
Kim Woo-min will compete in the 200-meter freestyle, an event he has been coveting lately.
The 200-meter freestyle will have heats and semifinals on Aug. 28 and the final on Aug. 29, and Kim believes that competing in the 200-meter freestyle won’t hurt his 800-meter freestyle relay.
“I’m going to plan around the events where I have a high chance of winning a medal,” Kim said upon arrival in Paris.
The choice was made.
Now, Kim Woo-min will accelerate his pace to win an Olympic medal. 바카라사이트 추천
