Kevin Garnett fires back at Golden State.
NBA legends Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce discussed the state of the Golden State Warriors on the KG Certified podcast on Wednesday.
Golden State was considered one of the Western Conference powerhouses heading into this season. The Golden State Warriors 카지노사이트 showed their intentions to challenge for a championship by releasing Jordan Poole, who didn’t live up to expectations, and bringing in veteran Chris Paul.
Despite their ups and downs last season, they managed to catch top-seeded Sacramento in the first round and advance to the second round. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, and Kevon Looney are all players with championship experience.
However, Golden State is off to a pretty bad start this season. They rank 13th in offensive rating (114.8) and 16th in defensive rating (114.4), making them a mediocre team with nothing to show for it on offense.
After recently blowing another big lead to the Clippers and suffering a come-from-behind loss, Golden State is 9-11 in its first 20 games of the season. They currently sit in 11th place in the Western Conference and won’t even make the play-in tournament if the season ends this way.
Their ace, Steph Curry, is still going strong, averaging 29.1 points per game, but Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins have been underwhelming so far. The bench units have been competitive in their own right, but Golden State hasn’t been able to accumulate wins.
NBA legends Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce also gave a sobering assessment of Golden State’s situation. In particular, Garnett pointed out that the Warriors won’t even make the play-in tournament at this point.
“They’re not a playoff team at all,” Garnett said, and when asked if they were a play-in tournament team, he replied, “Not at all. I just see other teams getting better than Golden State. It’s sad that it’s coming to an end for everybody.”
Pierce’s assessment was more positive than Garnett’s, but he emphasized the need for additional power.
“I still believe in Steph Curry and Draymond Green. Golden State can still build a good team if they put the right pieces in place to win a championship, but they need to make moves. They’re barely in the playoffs with the team they have now.”
After failing to protect a 22-point lead against the Clippers, the Warriors will have a day off before returning to action on Nov. 7 against Portland. With the odds stacked against them, can the Warriors rebound?
