The Changwon LG Seccers extended their winning streak to eight games after defeating the Anyang Jungkwanjang Red Boosters.
LG won by 24 points, 94-70, in the sixth round of the regular season of the 2023-2024 Jungkwanjang Professional Basketball League at Changwon Gymnasium on Monday.
The win extended LG’s winning streak to eight games. This is the first time in nine years that LG has won eight straight games in the regular season. The last time the team won eight straight was in September 2015 with a win over 온라인카지노 Samsung Electronics in Seoul. LG remained in second place, two games behind third-place Suwon KT.
Jungkwanjang ‘s side is mired in a losing streak. They have lost 17 straight away from home. It is already the longest away losing streak in the club’s history. They turned things around with a win against Seoul SK on Nov. 16, but the joy was short-lived. Jungkwanjang ‘s side slipped out of eighth place as Goyang Sono won.
LG was led by Asem Marey with 17 points, 15 rebounds and six assists. Yoo Yoo-sang chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds, setting a new KBL rookie record for most three-pointers made. Lee Jae-do added 12 points and Yang Hong-seok 13 points. They also outrebounded Jung Kwan-jang by nearly double, 50-25.
Jung Kwanjang was led by Bae Byung-joon’s 15 points and one rebound, but other than Park Ji-hoon, all other players were held to single digits. Foreign players Robert Carter had six points and Jamil Wilson had nine points. Overwhelmed by height, they lost.
LG came out firing in the first quarter. With the score tied at 18-15, LG took a nine-point lead, 24-15, thanks to a Juan Tello basket, followed by baskets from Hongseok Yang and Junseok Yang.
The second quarter was a tightly contested affair. Early in the quarter, Yoo Yoo-sang scored back-to-back baskets to give LG the lead, but Jung Kwan-jang maintained the lead with consecutive baskets from Bae Byung-joon, Carter, and Choi Sung-won. The first quarter ended with LG leading 42-33.
LG took control in the third quarter. Jeong Hee-jae opened the scoring with a three-pointer, and Justin Gutang also hit a three-pointer at the rim. LG quickly pulled away, hitting six three-pointers in the third quarter alone. The lead was already 14 points, 66-52, at the end of the third quarter.
LG continued to dominate Jungkwanjang despite resting all of its starters at the beginning of the fourth quarter to preserve their stamina. Jung In-duk and Jung Hee-jae hit back-to-back three-pointers. Even Marei joined the scoring. With just over three minutes left, Yoo Yoo-sang and Lim Dong-seob hit back-to-back three-pointers to seal the deal. The final score was 94-70 in favor of LG.
